1. What is NDA?
NDA stands for National Defence Academy.
It is a tri-service training institute located at Khadakwasla, Pune.
It's a cradle for military leadership.
2. What are the advantages of joining NDA?
NDA is one of the most premier institutes of the country. There are a multitude of advantages of joining NDA as compared to other defence training institutes:
a) The career is set at a young age.
b) Armed forces take up the responsibility of training, grooming and development of the cadet for 3 years at their own cost. In fact after NDA, in the 4th year of training, the Government pays a stipend of Rs.56,100 per month (As per https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/)
c) The academy provides facility for all conceivable sports, extracurricular activities and hobby developments.
d) The academy has the best possible infrastructure and trainers. It provides equal opportunity to all who desire to excel.
e) A joint service institute develops life time comaraderie amongst officers of all arms and services.

3. How to join NDA?
To join NDA, a student has to pass a written exam conducted by UPSC, and SSB interview conducted by Armed Forces. About 8 lac students fill up the NDA form every year, out of which approximately 800 students get selected.
4. What are the details of written exam?
The written exams are conducted twice a year generally in the month of April and September. There are 2 exams conducted on a single day, Mathematics for 300 marks and General ability for 600 marks. Both are MCQ based and have negative marking. The students who are above the bench mark, i.e. cut off levels, are called for the SSB interview.
5. What is SSB?
It is one of the most complex and detailed selection processes. The student who has come into the merit of the written exam is called for a period of 1 to 5 days. Basic screening is conducted on the first day and only those students who go into second stage are tested for another 4 days. Students take various tests during these 5 days of the SSB interview. Those who pass SSB are checked for medical fitness.
6. How should one prepare for NDA entrance?
One has to prioritize. Proficiency in Mathematics and a working knowledge of English is necessary. One has to develop leadership attributes and be a confident personality. Primarily the student is required to possess Officer Like Qualities in reasonable measures. Physical fitness is generally not a decisive factor unless the student is overly unfit.
7. How many chances does one get to join Armed forces?
NDA followed by TES and NA are the options open after 12th upto the age of 19.5 years but in the subsequent years during graduation upto 25 years and post graduation years, upto 27 years, the student can continue to appear for entrance exams such as CDS, AFCAT, TGC, UES, Technical entry, INET etc. every 6 months. Though students get innumerable chances to join armed forces, the reasons for joining NDA are overwhelming and hence NDA is the most preferred entry for a career in the Armed Forces.

10. Who will take personal care of students?
Our sports warden from Armed forces and our residential teachers who will stay with the students in the dormitory itself shall take care 24x7. The residential director is himself an alumnus of NDA living in Lonavala. He interacts with students on a daily basis and resolves their issues if any.
11. How is the training conducted?
The boys go to school from Monday to Friday from 0800hrs to 1430 hrs. Before and after school hours, and on week-ends and holidays Vishwabharati Academy takes care of the students. Apart from special NDA coaching, extra classes are taken for the subjects and topics which have been taught in the school. A detailed training schedule subject to changes due to weather etc.
12. How is on-line training organized?
Our Mathematics Professor, who is a published author, will conduct the Maths classes, English lessons and Gat will be conducted by other faculty members. Our two directors, both ex-NDA, shall take personality and leadership classes. The on-line classes will begin from 11th May. We shall share the schedule with all registered students 24 hrs in advance. Online coaching shall continue till the opening of the school.
13. When will the academic session start?
Nothing can be said with certainty due to the fluid COVID situation. However as per our understanding, regular school may not start until Sep 2020. As class 11th syllabus is a quantum jump from that of class 10th, it is absolutely necessary for the students to be in learning mode lest they get overwhelmed at a later stage.
14. What is the Vishwabharati success story?
We have had 36 successes to date. We had a success in NDA exam from our very first truncated batch last year which was our first 2 years integrated batch. The exams for the current year are yet to be held.
15. How is the school's academic record?
The CBSE school we are associated with is Sinhgad Public school. It is 16 years old and has a 100% pass record for the 12th board exam.
